The goals of this work are to gain a better understanding of the behavior of realistic, high-speed, spatial machine systems with flexible links, support structures and enclosures, and clearance connections, and to develop modeling methods that can be used by designers. The research is to developing new analytical techniques and methodologies, then validate them experimentally.

Results obtained in the work to date include improved analytical methods and some very interesting experimentally observed behavior. These results may have some important implications for computer based dynamic models for design.
